In September, the Nijdra Group further scaled up its equipment with a CTX beta 800 TC by DMG Mori. This versatile machine is a turn & mill combination and as such complements well the existent machinery.
Rob Wijtenburg, production manager of the engineering workshop explains: “What I especially like about this machine is it being compact and yet offering many possibilities. Out of the range of products the Nijdra Group offers its costumers, we had already chosen several that require complex machining and that now we want to manufacture as quickly as possible on the CTX beta 800 TC.
These are primarily products requiring turning and milling. Soon we will be able to manufacture these products on the new machine instead of on several machines. Furthermore, we will approach production on this machine as far as possible form one tool chain of 80 tools. The combination of main and counter spindle even allows the 6-sided machining of products. This reduces the total set-up times to a minimum, which again shortens the lead-time and allows us to work even more efficiently. In the coming period, we first will learn the ins and outs of this machine, but the next step, its automation, will follow soon.”
